"From the Bible, St. Paul Apostle, First Corinthians, chap. 13; vers.1-13. "
Carilettori I want to bring a Bible passage, perhaps one of the most beautiful and interesting.
Thanks in advance.
"Ode to Charity"
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am simply a gong booming or a cymbal titinna.
And if I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my substances and give my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind, not envious, does not boast, it is not inflated, not rude, does not seek its own interests, not angry, does not take into account the evil received, does not enjoy the ingistizia, but rejoices with the truth.
It bears tuttoccrede, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
Prophecies will cease; the gift of tongues will cease, and science will vanish.
Our knowledge is imperfect and we prophesy.
But when what is perfect comes, the partial will pass away.
Quand 'I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought as a child, I reasoned like a child.
I became a man, that was a child, the 'I quit.
Now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in
part, but then I shall know fully, even as too 'I am known.
And now these three remain:
faith, hope and charity;
but the greatest of these is charity.
